Overwatch 2 Free to Play Early Access Coming October 4th on Xbox and PC

Overwatch 2 was just highlighted during the Xbox & Bethesda games showcase, announcing a free to play Early Access releasing on October 4th for Xbox and PC!
The highlight trailer is a bit unclear whether the entire game is meant to be free to play, or just the early access portion, though, so we will likely hear more as we get closer to that date.
Also included was a highlight of their newest hero, called simply The Wastelander, who wields a retractable axe and some kind of stockless shotgun in a Thunderdome-esque battle pit.
Update:
In Overwatch's twitter posts, the Wastelander is referred to as
Junker Queen
and listed as a new tank character.
