WoW Economy Weekly Wrap-Up
Hello! Welcome to the 177th edition of the WoW Economy Weekly Wrap-up!
My name is
and I am a content creator focusing on making gold using Professions and
. I have a number of guides over on
and I also stream my adventures on
Preparing for The Burning Crusade Classic
The Dark Portal will open again soon, this time over on Classic and many players are looking to jump in especially while waiting for 9.1 to arrive. From a gold making perspective, what delights can we look forward to and what resources are out there to help?
First off, note the
Auction House is currently closed until May 18th
in preparation for the split.
In order to prepare our game service to be ready for both the upgrade to The Burning Crusade Classic and the availability of Classic Era realms on May 18, we will close the Auction Houses on all WoW Classic realms at 10:00 a.m. PDT (1:00 p.m. EDT) on Friday, May 14.We expect Auction Houses to become available again when the game service resumes following maintenance on May 18.We advise WoW Classic players to refrain from posting new auctions shortly before the closure, as it will not be possible for other players to access the AH thereafter, and deposit fees cannot be refunded.Thank you for your understanding.
This may open some opportunities in Trade chat for getting hold of some decent resources in preparation for TBC. One of which is selling "Profession Bundles" as talked about by
I thought about a way to get some money (lol who foesn't) ... woulf it make sense to gather all mats for a specific profession e.g. from fishing and sell this as a bundle to level cooking from 1-300 (including the quest items, recipes, skill book for 225).
Same for other professions - sure one could farm high level mats and sell these, or make some of these "bundles". Sure the market share would be rather small but selling such a bundle (or better a boost?) could go for some gold, right?
If you're talking about classic it's worthwhile. With the current ah shut down it would be even more lucrative leading into pre patch. I do think you would have to commit to consistently advertising to have regular sales though. My friend bought an alchemy pack on his alt for 199g last week
Speaking of Professions, there will be many trying to power through existing professions to gain access to TBC ones including the new Jewelcrafting Profession. There are a number of Profession guides available on various sites..
Here on Wowhead
Of course, looking at the materials going into these professions opens up opportunities to either farm or flip to make some more gold.
has put together a list of some items to hold onto while levelling ..
Hello! Posting another set of tips for my assumptions on how to make money in outland from day 1. Leveling and making gold at the same time!? Preposterous!
I came at this from the angle of someone with no primary professions so anyone can use these to make a decent chunk of change in early TBC.
List of Things to Hold onto while leveling in The Burning Crusade Classic:
These are the items each of the following professions need to level:
Cooking: Ravager Flesh, Clefthoof Meat, Warped Flesh, Raptor Ribs, Serpent Flesh
Fishing: Furious Crawdad is best meat to level cooking from 350-375 but is hard to farm. Will be a fantastic seller, Low drop chance farm in Terrokar forest from 325+ fishing. Enormous Barbed Gill Trout and Huge Spotted Feltail are both fish you should not throw away and hold onto for a bit into the game. They're for endgame cooking recipes. Will go up in value as the game progresses.
First Aid: Can sell Runecloth in prepatch too! Runecloth, Netherweave Cloth are going to be needed for everyone to level their First Aid.
Jewelcrafting: Primal Mana, Primal Earth
Blacksmithing: Primal Water, Primal Fire, Primal Mana
Engineering: Mote of Fire, Mote of Earth, Primal Fire Schematic White Smoke Flare sold by Wind Trader Lathrai(And one other vendor on each faction in the out of the way new cities) is a good Schematic to grab and relist on the AH for a quick few gold in the early days of TBC. Its a limited stock schematic and people will pay to not have to wait for it.
Leatherworking: Pattern: Heavy Knothide Leather sold by Cro Threadstron in Lower City in Shattrath. Also sold by vendors in the new cities for each faction. Limited Availability Pattern that you can resell on the AH during the first few days at large profit. Primal Mana, Primal Fire, Primal Water, Primal Earth, Primal Air
Tailoring: Runecloth, Netherweave Cloth, and Primals
Milling Calculator Addon
Back into Retail and
has created an nice little addon to calculate profit with milling...
Hello here !
i have made my first add-on, for fun :)
A very simple tool for calculate profit with milling.
On first tab, you can show the actual price of ink / pigment. And best way for have thme.
On second tab a simple calculator for tome / rune craft. Just choose the quantit.
On third tab, you can set a personnal pricesource (dbmarket / dbminbuyout or as you want)
You need to install TradeSkillMaster.
it's the first time i make an addon (and i learn progr at the same time, so be indulgent )
Add me on discord if you need help or talk about this :) - Migath#2245 / discord.gg/xXHWqJ8pp9
It's a great tool to use alongside
because it provides a number of prices at a glance and you can compare it with your setup in TSM.
Problems with Bots
An often controversial topic and one where Blizzard have battled with over the years to prevent players using such software to gain an unfair advantage in the game and of course against TOS.
opens the topic by talking about a suspected bot using the Auction House to automate cancel scanning..
so a few days ago i noticed certain things in the AH were being posted and reposted more often than usual i check who does it , and start researching i add them to friends to follow up when they get online , i check who crafts their stuff so i know when they gonna restock .
Then i notice a pattern every 5 minutes sharp their seller lvl 1 player logs in cancel scan repost logs off , i time it i camp the AH and notice this goes for 12 hours i go to bed get my 8 hours and they still at it
blizzard detect the bots at all the AH ones ? i think this might be a bit difficult for players to see because most players post and leave without a care in the world .
at first i thought botting cant be this easy and then i stumbled upon a bunch of tools so wow ah bots do exist just look at that setup i didnt include the name of the tool for obvious reasons
woke up to get ready for work its 5 am here atm guess who is login in login out and reposting.
Edit 4 6 pm arrived from work , the bot is still at it i believe the whole login in reposting loging out is to avoid detection
Jack the Dipper
interview with a Botter
that sheds an enormous amount of light to the extent of which botting takes place and the thinking behind it..
If you have listened to the last botting episode, then this will blow your mind (I think). We came in contact with this botter after the first botting episode, and because of his botting experience, we had to have him on the show. He worked for a company that created bots, made real money with his botting. He has a lot of information on how these bots work and what Blizzard could do against them. I hope you enjoy it!
Click Here to listen to the Interview
It's a great interview with a very frank and open conversation on the topic of botting. Several take home points were made ..
If you suspect a bot in operation - report them as it's the greatest chance of getting the account looked at.
More GMs active would greatly help combat the issues as they can react to reports immediately.
Botters will actively try to limit their exposure to the playerbase and get noticed, levelling via pet battles etc.
Account banning is of very little deterrent, it's so easy to create more and level back up.
Botting will widely be used for Auction House, Crafting as well as Levelling & Farming
Perhaps with the recent ban/clarification on the use of hardware and software for multiboxing (which is within TOS) there may be more opportunities for Blizzard to detect the botting operations, but really more GMs and Player Reporting will help even more so.
Making Crafting Profitable - Part 5
In another part of the rather excellent series on Making Crafting Profitable,
has another chapter talking about Min/Max/Normal prices...
- Adding your purchase value to material costs and setting a minimum profit
- revises the minimum profit field, auction house cut, and defines the difference between the Default Craft Value Method and the price source crafting
- goes into dbminbuyout and why not to use it, smartavgbuy vs avgbuy, and gathering Sources
- Classic not having dbregionsalerate, more than one Crafting Operation, retail (and TBC Classic) alchemy and Blizzard causing pain
What minimum, maximum, and normal do in an Auction Operation:
You want to be an auctioning god, a goblin that puts Gallywix to shame. In order to do that, understanding how an auction operation works is critical. The first step is comprehending the minimum, maximum, and normal calculations.
TSM will undercut any existing auction of that exact item in a range of values between the minimum and maximum calculations. Normal is used when you have no competition, are setting the price for that item, or, in Classic/TBC, other considerations like differing stack sizes.
Here's some pretty graphics. I said they were pretty! Don't judge my art.
min -----norm------- max
100g ----500g------- 1000g
If any current auctions of that item are between 100g and 1000g, TSM will undercut those auctions. On the other hand, maybe there aren't current auctions, in which case TSM will use normal, and let's say it's value is 500g.
The article goes into further depth talking about what the #default operation does and what it means, so I highly recommend checking it out
