Sooo... to actually answer the question posed by the article!Last night I joined a zombie raid out of curiosity. It was around 2AM server time. Stormwind was mainly dead (..ha..). The leader of our group announced where we would be going in trade. There was a team of zombie slayers and a team of zombies. The team that was taking down the zombies was notably stronger, since they could kill the zombies from rooftops.. but yeah. That was the most fun on WoW I've had in a long time. We tried to play nice- if someone was obviously leveling (because allied races are NOT immune), we let them be. A priest was around to rez people, and that was also part of the reason for the announcements in general/trade. But, at that time of night, I actually don't think I saw another player that wasn't part of the event the entire time. I swapped between the zombies and the defenders a few times. Everyone seemed to be having fun.On the flipside, today I had my new allied race get ganked, twice. I AFK'd in Boralus on my main and came back a zombie. I was zombified during Nathanos, twice. I was zombified while at the bank (I actually was able to healer that one), transmog, and just walking out of an inn. But... I actually didn't mind it (mainly because it is temporary!). It added a sense of ! to my otherwise zzz expansion prep activities. I've enjoyed the danger, especially since it is just for a week. It made me realize how checked out of the game I am half the time. So, having experienced both sides of the event.. I (personally!) am enjoying it. For those that aren't- any time I see anyone dead anywhere, I throw a rez, a buff, and a /hug to them. Pretty soon we'll be in Shadowlands!
This is awesome!
Blizzard can't make games anymore, they've become worse than EA and Ubisoft combined.
I camp world bosses while running on my treadmill, so this event sucks for me
Talked to 2 of my friend to come join me becoming zombie, and they were like "What's the reward ?" Braaah.Feels so ^&*! that some people don't feel enjoyment anymore if there is no "lasting reward" for an event.the fun I had trying to single handedly create a zombie army in a clean area and then fully infect it is huge xDThe Bouncer in Boralas also instant respawn so you can use them too.
Death to bots.
I would rather have this "disruptive" event that people will remember for years to come rather than a bland uninteresting event that doesnt change the status quo of the game world that no one will remember come a month from now. Like, does anyone actually have any fond memories of the BfA pre patch? Or the WoD Prepatch?
this is a good event dont even try to disagree.
It does seem to go a bit against my idea of fairness when you can’t kill the event related boss (Nathanos) because people are turning you into a zombie. Ditto for the Ice Crown bosses/rares. Especially when it turns out you can’t get the loot when you have been turned into a zombie.
One week in an entire expac. One freaking week where things actually happen. One week where it displays an idea of how the unleashed scourge looks. You guys will survive it and then you'll forget about it.
Its fun but useless in low player population areas or lack of npc's since npc zombies just die after very short time. It's funny to take the infection to the dock area near the PvP vender in Boralus there are mobs called Bouncers that instantly respawn and well you get quite a few zombies lol. The most fun is in Darkshire for sure. lots of weak fast spawning npc's and lots of player traffic.
I think scourging the botters is probably the best part. I wish there was a special plague we could use on them, all the time. Why doesn't this article mention the doom broom or exile reach newb scourge immunity?Anyone rolling a new character through exile's reach has immunity. The "opt outers", should have been doing their avoidance prep and SW alternatives the moment they learned about this (months ago). In the end, I just "WM off and logged out aloft in the air, purposefully in SW, where I normally wouldn't be, lol, as my "prep".I would think avoidance play has it's interesting sides. Seeing how well your preps spare you is just as worthwhile, as wanting to do the scourge thing. It's interesting that the complainers response to the Scourge Invasion isn't to instantly start thinking of "prep" or "avoidance" play (or RP) or the if I can't beat 'em, join 'em and see just how long they can run their limited scourge time. Their response is response is just to basically just to throw their toys out the pram. The complete unwillingness to even try the experience and just not log in, because of what they think it will be, versus finding out what it actually means to them. At least someone who logged in, got infected, then just whine, cry and log out - yea that's not really trying either. Yea, in a scourge invasion people who cannot think, adapt, fight or do anything but sit and cry and fade away ((log out)). Yea, I mean if that's your capability, then I guess y'all are scourge meat. Once Scourge, they are now emo scourge, that continue to just stand still in capital cities or instantly explode with sadness or fade away ((logout)) to nothingness. We all know goblin players can still AH, just fine between brutos, garrisons & engineering. (I'm a shabby goblin, no bruto, but not impacted). Back in the WotLK that wasn't a thing. They are more fit to weather just a week of slower sales from those who can't figure it out.Actually, what I'm really shocked is there hasn't been an event avoidance guide - I guess there wasn't enough whiners to make it lucrative. It's easy enough. I haven't even been trying to avoid and I still haven't been exposed, but I expect that to change closer to launch. It really is just 1 week, because the first week past and I saw nothing, even though, as a newb and knowing this might be my only chance to participate, I wanted to participate, but also have my "prep.I'd read that Bliz had nerfed portals to cleanse people of scourge - so I'm surprised that they left them (and hearthstones) open to spread the scourge, afterall. The portal nerf would have been good, so all the opt-outers, could cower in Dalaran. It would have limited the scourge to Northrend, Kalimdor, Eastern Kingdoms, Kul Tiras & Zandalar. (Which would have annoyed me, because I do have something I need to do that matters before SL launch in a part of Zandalar). Whatever on a fresh alt (and they've had ample time to bunker down their other characters to pass things to their fresh alt). Aside from the lag, I actually haven't gotten to experience any part of the zombies (not even when I didn't realize I was wandering ghost town SW with WM on). One person was all, is anyone on? I /who and said, yup 22 are here. I was continuing ICC rares joining a raid as usual. Though I had logged in flying where I had been flying. Instead, I'll be wandering around with my no immunity 17, now 18, wish me luck! Not a character with stealth, either. The idea of having only 1 shot at Nathanos for the week getting shafted at the weapon, even with WM off - especially with all the other buggy bits - ok that's the one part where I agree that it being scourge spoiled is unfair. It sucks how long it takes to get there, especially alt at ground mount or 150% flying speed. Even full speed isn't great. I guess if you didn't do Nathanos last week, WM off (cuz there were camping opposing factions, who would log on just long enough to complain about PvE not PvPing, lol), then you snoozed and lost.
