Cataclysm Beta (Build 12759) Updated Continent Loading Screens!
The latest Cataclysm build also included freshly updated loading screens featuring amazing new art for each of the major continents. We've uploaded them here in both original and widescreen variations! Which one is your favorite? Also, which other old-world loading screens still deserve some love?

Cataclysm Beta (Build 12759) Guild Vendor, Achievements Added!
The latest Cataclysm Beta update marks the return of guild features, with some awesome new additions! Guild vendors have been added to the game, located near the Guild Master / Tabard Vendors in the major cities, who sell items which will (eventually) have guild reputation requirements. New items include a ground mount, flying mount, new heirlooms and more! Sadly, most of the items have not been fully implemented and do not actually function at this time.
Blizzard has also added few more guild achievements - keep checking the blog for more information as we can add it! Check out screenshots of the newly added goodies after the break!

Cataclysm Beta (Build 12759) New Rank of Riding (310%)!
In the latest beta build Blizzard has introduced a
new rank of flying
, which was originally mentioned in a
#BlizzChat
back in April. At level 80, a player is allowed to purchase
Master Riding
for a hefty price of
(discounted by reputation by appropriate vendors) which will allow you to fly any mount at
310%
. To purchase this you will need to visit any riding trainer that teaches flying, such as

in Stormwind for the Alliance or
Мазта
in Orgrimmar for the Horde. I would assume that your 310% mounts will still go 310% without the training skill, but this will allow players to bust out some more preferred mounts and enjoy the convenience of high speed
and
style!
Update!
A lot of sites are reporting that 310% riding will be learned automatically if you have a 310% - which may or may not be true anymore. For clarification, here is the original blue post from back in May of this year, in which this feature was promised by a Blizzard poster:

Here's a few more 3D models for you guys - most notable new additions include some amazing seahorses (mounts?!?!) and some extremely interesting new Grim Batol objects! AVG Flagging reCAPTCHA with False Positive
I received a number of emails this evening raising concern about a potential virus infection on our site. Naturally, this is reason for great concern! Upon further research (and with loads of great information from the awesome users who reported it) I learned that the AVG Active Surf-Shield tool has been erroneously reporting an "active threat" found in Google's reCAPTCHA (specifically, the recaptcha_ajax.js file), claiming it as a HTML/Framer Virus.
A little more Google tango produced

on AVG's forums, in which many users are reporting the AVG Surf-Shield as claiming this threat on multiple major websites (such as Yahoo! Mail or Amazon.com), citing seemingly random sources of this alleged "infection."
While there has been no official statement from AVG at this time, I do believe we can safely say that what we have on our hands here is a
false positive
- in this case, the AVG virus scan client is erroneously reporting harmless files as potential threats.

I'll admit, I had never really read the column before as, despite being a guild leader, I've always decided to remain blissfully ignorant on how to do things properly and have been just winging it with friends in my World of Warcraft escapades. We've been pretty successful, but I can tell where the ability to properly identify problems and make changes early on would have definitely helped in the long run to create a more productive and enjoyable experience for my guild's members, as well as myself. That's where Andrew's book comes in. The

Blizzard Changing Vote Kick Option in Random Dungeons in 3.3.5
Blizzard has many changes in store for 3.3.5 and Zarhym has revealed a minor but interesting change that will be made to the existing Vote Kick option when in a random dungeon. They have made many changes since the Dungeon Finder's release, and their newest rework of the option to remove problem players sounds like it could be a sure hit, but that will depend on how people use this new power.
For players who use the Dungeon Finder and do not use the Vote Kick tool often, there will no longer be a cooldown on kicking a player. This will allow users who are doing many random dungeons and not abusing the tool to easily be able to remove problem players without hitting this "You must wait blah blah blah" limitation. For players who often kick players / abandon groups, the cooldown will be reinstated. Blizzard has not yet released any details on exactly what sort of internal timeframe this decision will be made on, but Blizzard does state that the limitation will deteriorate over time allowing a player who previously frequently kicked players to work their Vote Kick cooldown back down to nothing after time of "good be

Our Real Life "Adventures" Spotlighted in Avatar Days
So a particularly unique World of Warcraft machinima video was linked to me this morning, and I believe that it stands out so much from the typical game-themed videos that I wanted to share it with you guys.
Avatar Days
is a short film completed by a small group of talented Dublin residents, several of which are World of Warcraft players just like you and I. The video follows short "day in the life of" sequences which are each narrated by a different player, with his avatar performing the various, mundane tasks of the daily lives which many of us follow. This film was completed in an astonishing four days in entry for Ireland's
Darklight Film Festival
. Check it out for yourselves - it's interesting to stop, think and realize just how many World of Warcraft players are out there in that "real world."
